Ambitious and creative minded RIBA part 1 architecture student, passionate about architecture and design. I am a considerate and self-driven student highly interested in; visual representations of architecture, modern design and adapting designs for alternative uses. The project begins in the study of Birmingham’s jewellery quarter, by investigating the relationship between the quarter and the rest of the city. The jewellery quarter offers an atmosphere closer to a village than a city - artisans often shared resources hence the closeness of all the jewellery workshops. This proposal should consolidate the heritage of the jewellery quarter, while distinguishing the areas own, unique identity. On the fringes of the quarter and the city centre is where the mixed function building will be proposed. The focus of the proposal is creative people. The site will contain; artist studios, musician practice rooms/studios, as well as a gallery. the site needs to engage with the public, a café provides a great meeting spot. due to the proximity of Snowhill, a logical decision. The roof garden provides a fresh experience to explore the site in an unusual way, in essence the garden will be a known ‘secret’ attraction within the jewellery quarter.
