My final project “Knotted” is a reflection of my interest in creating 3D sculptural accessories and portholes in my designs, that are inspired from canal side living and walks.
“Knotted” is a sustainable contemporary womenswear collection constructed from nautical knots. My collection is linked to my successful Coventry City of Culture 2021 application centred on a greater need for sustainability in deprived areas. My collection originated from a zero-waste accessory and being passionate about adapting my habits to be more environmentally cautious.
Throughout, I have been influenced by Windy Chien’s “Year of Knots”, which has led me away from flat shapes into sculptural knot accessories that have been styled within my collection to add volume and depth. My simple garments are not statements until put together with the knots, which enhances the wear-ability aspect of my sustainable collection.
I aspire to be a fashion co-ordinator for a brand. During my placement year, as an intern for Zoë Jordan, I was result orientated and forward thinking in my work. I am a devoted and ambitious graduate excited about working my way up in the fashion industry.
