I am an innovative, forward-thinking designer who thrives on challenging herself with new tasks showcasing the ability to learn quickly and adapt to all situations. Exploring the design process through pattern cutting techniques has helped me to become a strong designer and I would continue to use these methods to help expand my creative thinking. I have good organisational skills, which help me keep on track. I am multi-lingual which can help in communicating with other members and I can work well in groups as well as individually on tasks to ensure the best outcome is achieved for projects.
Indomania is a womenswear collection inspired by the 1960s western and Indian fusion. As a designer who has Indian origin and living in the UK, I knew I wanted to create a fusion of both cultures. Indomania came from the definition which is ‘the craze of all things Indian’. The concept originates from the 1960s Bollywood movie Mughal-e-Azam mixed with the Beatles who were influenced by Indian culture at the time. I have adapted 1960s silhouettes and drawn from the youth culture that was developed in this era to create occasion wear suitable for both western and Indian functions.
