Ian Davidson

My name is Ian Davidson and I am an illustrator and designer with a focus on work

relating to the music industry. In my freelance practice, I work with musicians and

bands to help them achieve the best visual outcomes to support their music. I like to

work in a wide range of styles and mediums, depending on what works best for the

situation. I would describe my style as graphic, geometric work blended with a painterly, illustrative eye.

In my most recent project I have been working closely with a Manchester based band called The Vandalis. I created the cover for their debut EP called VANDALISM and have been working on an animated music video for one of the singles called "Satisfy the Old". This animation uses

rotoscope techniques combined with my rough, energetic animation style. It follows

the story of the girl on the EP cover and how she is used by “the system” and “the

old”. The song’s lyrics speak about the abuse of power and poor leadership we see

from our politicians from certain echelons of society. The full animation is available on my website.
