I am Zhuomin Zhong, Studying Automotive and Transport Design as a final year student at Coventry University. My design is an off-road vehicle designed for water sports enthusiasts. The main User group likes camping on the beach and lakesides, include diving enthusiasts, surfing enthusiasts, and even fishing enthusiasts. The problem I wanted to address is that the target people's need for carrying and storing their heavy equipment and their psychological needs for more in-depth interaction with nature.
The design was inspired by the hammocks and twisted rocks that are common in a camping environment. I designed an internal platform that can rotate 360 degrees to achieve the transition from general driving mode to leisure mode. When the car arrives at the camp site, the rear window and rear door of the car can be opened, the internal platform can be rotated and egress and ingress towards the rear is provided and the driver and passengers can enjoy the sun and fresh air, just like what happens in a hammock. The front windshield of the car can be lifted upwards, which not only provides a new solution for luggage storage, but also provides a luxurious experience for nature interaction.
