PROJECT:
Due to the nearby empty buildings the jewellery quarter areas have started to deteriorate creating an unsafe environment. My proposal aims to reconnect the lost musical identity of the jewellery quarter to the city of Birmingham
Candor is a music school extension to the already existing school on Lionel Street. Common words associated with Candor include boldness, spontaneity and unconstraint which is what I aimed to achieve with my design. Taking inspiration from Frank Gehry’s LV building with a combination of my own sketch interpretation of the sites form, I created a bold and eye catching façade. “Music travels out” what I aimed to portray with my building was that my façade is similar to a note trying to escape and reach its audience. The core function of my building is the concert hall and practice rooms providing students with additional equipment.
