I am a 21-year-old RIBA Part 1 student who is ambitious and self-driven with a passion to design and explore the world.
The Jewellery Quarter has a rich historic culture that has impacted Birmingham’s industrial trading economy from the early 1900s. Currently, some areas are deteriorating, leaving empty spaces and abandoned buildings that are unsafe.
For this project, I have partnered up with Birmingham School of Jewellery, Assay Office and Birmingham City Council. The aim of this project is to create a dialogue between the clients to create a sense of completeness within the Jewellery Quarter. The ‘Jewellery HUB’ is a multi-layered HUB that has developed through principles of urban design and impact from the surrounding districts. The site will be defined by the HUB and develop a monumental gateway into the Jewellery Quarter by creating activity and leisure spaces that will allow movement through the site. The Hub promotes social connectivity, supports regeneration, learning and provides for each district, making it a landmark on the edge of Jewellery Quarter.
