Irina Maria Lazar

Hey! I’m Irina Lazar, a Romanian character designer and illustrator based in Coventry, UK. I specialise in creating 2D characters and my drawing style is inspired by the classic Disney art style and the Japanese anime style which I grew up with and embraced as a child. In my art I address themes such as diversity and inclusion in an attempt to showcase the beauty of exploring and embracing what makes us different and unique. I find inspiration in things that I like, such as traveling, or nature and I tend to give them a fantasy or sci-fi twist.

One example of my work is my book “World of Zorix Encyclopedia”. In the year 3120, humanity is preparing to colonise a new celestial body outside of our galaxy, called Zorix. The book is a collection of creatures found on this newly discovered moon, hundreds of years from now. They are inspired by flora and fauna of Earth with a fantasy and sci-fi twist.

The project is presented as an encyclopedia, including illustrations of Zorix and the different species discovered on it, along with descriptions of their adaptations and unique abilities.
