Samantha Humphreys

Hey, I’m Samantha, I’m the one on our course who tends to always be busy and running around like a headless chicken with a costa coffee in hand!

I’m a Storyboard Artist and Animator from a little seaside town in the UK, who likes to tell narratives that raise questions about our society today. My practice is heavily influenced by societies injustices that I grew up witnessing, which I subtly incorporate into my narratives, to help bring recognition to them…. with a hint of sarcasm because I cannot resist.  

‘Loner On The Bus’ Film: 

Loner On the Bus follows the story of Margaret, an elderly lady who is so lonely to the point she  stays on her local bus all day and never gets off just to socialise with someone. The short film exposes issues surrounding loneliness particularly within the elderly along with poverty-based issues which you’ll see if you watch! (No spoilers!) The film is 2D animated in an animatic style as I wanted to practice my storyboarding skills in particular as well as tell a grounded story.
